AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS
RELEASES THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SPEAKS DVD

ARLINGTON, Va. – The American Association of School Administrators (AASA) has released The Public School Speaks, a new DVD that shines a light on the importance of public education and makes a case for increased financial and public support for our nation’s public schools. The DVD is component in AASA’s Stand Up for Public Education™ campaign, a multiyear effort to support high-quality public education.

The Public School Speaks is based on an article written by renowned public education advocate Frosty Troy for AASA’s The School Administrator magazine. The DVD features school system leaders from around the country, including AASA President Eugene G. White, superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools (Ind.), and AASA President-Elect Sarah Jerome, superintendent of Arlington Heights School District 25 (Ill.).

Public education is the most important institution in American society,” said AASA Executive Director Paul D. Houston. “The Public School Speaks provides an inspirational look at the power of public education and the valuable role that public schools play in the United States.”

The Public School Speaks is co-sponsored by AASA and the Indiana Association of Educational Service Centers. It was produced by Central Indiana Educational Service Center’s award-winning video production team. It won a 2007 AEGIS Award for outstanding production quality.

More information about The Public School Speaks, including a 30-second preview, is available at www.aasa.org/PublicSchoolSpeaks.

Students, Teachers and Parents are invited to check out the latest upgrade to the Science Friday Kids’ Connection at sciencefriday.com/kids.

New navigation makes it easy to find the hands-on science activities, real-world connections and timely resources linked to the radio program. There are now three separate paths to explore the SFKC site.

  • Subjects, such as Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Math and Technology
  • Topics, such as "Forms of Energy" and "Populations and Ecosystems"
  • And a Google - powered search of hundreds of archive SFKC pages
Teachers will like the fact that all our pages are now linked to national (and state) standards; parents will be amazed at the breadth and depth of our topics. Students will want to make the Science Friday Kids’ Connection their first stop as they begin a project or paper.
