About the Kids’ Connection:

• an educational resource based on National Public Radio’s award-winning radio program, Talk of the Nation: Science Friday, hosted each Friday afternoon by veteran science journalist and author, Ira Flatow
• each content page has a summary of the radio program, discussion ideas, activities, links to the audio, selected resources, and related science standards, all found on the web
• science standards are selected from a national list developed by McREL, the Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning in Denver, Colorado. McREL is a nationally recognized, private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to make a difference in the quality of education for all through applied research, product development, and service. • used together, educators can make Talk of the Nation: Science Friday their weekly backgrounder, and the Kids’ Connection a springboard to curriculum enhancements, extra credit projects, or an accelerated learning program.
